Kranj is nearby, and Bled lies farther north-west towards the Julian Alps.
So if Bled is your destination, travelling south into central Ljubljana first normally makes little geographical sense.

What does Kranj have to do with the journey?
Kranj is one of the main towns of Gorenjska and an important transport point between Brnik, Ljubljana and the Alpine destinations to the north-west.
Depending on the public transport timetable, some travellers may use Kranj as part of a bus or rail connection.
For a direct road journey, however, you simply continue from the airport towards the Bled area without needing to enter either Kranj city centre or Ljubljana city centre.
