Arriving at Ljubljana Airport (Jože Pučnik Brnik)When arriving in Slovenia by plane, you will most likely land at the country’s main international airport – Ljubljana Airport (Jože Pučnik Airport Brnik). If you don’t already have a transfer arranged to your destination, you have several options: 1. Regular airport taxiRight in front of the terminal you will find taxis waiting. This is the fastest option, but also the most expensive. A taxi ride to the capital Ljubljana (about 25 km away) usually costs around €40-70. 2. Low-cost taxi companies (recommended)Pre-booked companies such as Taxi Legende offer a fixed price of €40 for transfers to Ljubljana city. The only condition is that you book in advance, otherwise you may need to wait around 45-60 minutes for a driver – not ideal after a long flight. With pre-booking, the driver waits for you at the exit holding a sign with your name, ready to go. 3. Shuttle servicesAcross the parking area there are shuttle companies offering transfers to Ljubljana for €8–15 per person. Some even provide door-to-door service. The disadvantage: sometimes you may have to wait up to an hour until the shuttle departs. If you travel with two or more people, booking a low-cost taxi for €20 is usually cheaper and much faster. 4. Public transportThere is no train from Ljubljana Airport, only a bus. Buses run regularly from 05:00 until 20:00 every full hour. The ticket costs €4.50 and the ride to Ljubljana takes about 45 minutes. Tickets are purchased directly from the driver. Buses are generally clean and safe – personally checked.
